The Knight in the Panther’s Skin, the most significant text in Georgian literature, was written by Shota Rustaveli in the Late Middle Ages. Rustaveli’s philosophic, aesthetic and ethical views bear the clear imprint of medieval European culture as well as oriental literature. This book conducts comparative research within the frame of these two huge cultures. The objective of the research is to show the fundamental problems raised in the works of Shota Rustaveli and Nizami Ganjavi, the typological essence of the similarities between them, as well as the historic, cultural, literary, and aesthetic factors that make their works differ.
